At home

Just got off the phone with Frankie;

“Madison!”

“Now this is a surprise.”

“Been meaning to ring you for ages darling, but you know how it is.”

“I certainly do. How are you?”

“Fantastic. Hey listen, what are you up to this weekend?”

“I’ll be slumming it in LA.”

“Oooh,” she cooed.  “Are you off to see your man?”

I laughed. “I guess I am.”

“How exciting, how’s it all going?”

“Lots of really sweet phone calls and letters and all that but…”

“Nothing like the real thing.”

“Exactly.”

“I’m so happy for you.”

“Thanks Frankie. I really can’t wait.”

“Do you think it’s getting serious?”

“I think it’s moving in that direction, yes.”

“Shall I buy a hat?”

“No,” I laughed. “It’s not anywhere near that level.”

“Yet!” she yelled.

“What’s happening with you this weekend?”

“I’ll be slumming it in London,” she said, with her signature Frankie chuckle, which is pretty contagious.

“How fun. With who?”

“Gorgeous new chap, works in the city and all that.”

“You are rather fond of those stock broker types.”

“I s’pose, but this one is different. He’s very sweet.”

“Sounds like a good weekend for both of us.”

“Yes! I was hoping to catch you on my way to London but you’ll be three thousand miles away doing all sorts of naughties.”

“Oh, I say,” I said, giggling.

“Ok darling well have an amazing time with lover boy and ring me when you get back. I want all the juicy details.”

“Likewise.”

Frankie and Maddie. London and LA.
